Setting Up Port Forwarding for Viewing Your Microseven Network Camera Over the Internet
How many ports need to open for port forwarding (against firewall)?
For Microseven network camera, there are web port, password port and video ports need to do port forwarding:
- Web port default is 80
- Password port (device) default is 9660
- Video port default is 9661
For example, IP address configuration for LAN is 192.168.1.201:
Then, port forwording is 80 for 192.168.1.201,
port forwarding is 9660-9661 for 192.168.1.201
If you have internet IP address is 74.212.249.249,
then you view your Microseven network camera on the internet is http://74.212.249.249
For demo Microseven network camera port forwarding is http://74.212.249.249:7777
The following example is 3 cameras, for port forwarding. A Netgear router uses 3 IP address for cameras:
- 192.168.1.201 for first camera.
- 192.168.1.202 for second camera.
- 192.168.1.203 for third camera.
Step 1 Go to port forwarding.

Step 2 Click on ‘Add Custom Service’, then go to next page.

- Enter ‘cam1‘ in Service Name.
- Service Type is ‘TCP/UDP‘.
- Starting Port is ‘81‘.
- Ending Port is ‘81‘.
- Server IP Address is ‘192.168.1.201‘.

- Click ‘Apply‘.
Step 3 Go to next page, Updating Settings.


Step 4 Now, Click on ‘Add Custom Service’ again to add password port and video ports.
- Set Service Name as ‘cam1_video‘.
- Set Service Type as ‘TCP/UDP‘.
- Starting Port is ‘9660‘.
- Ending Port is ‘9665‘.
- Server IP Address is 192.168.1.201‘.

- And then click ‘Apply‘.

Now, the first camera port forwarding setup is completed.
Step 5 Then, do the second Microseven network camera.

The second Microseven network camera setup is finished now.
Total three Microseven network camera setup for port forwarding will be the following snapshot.

How to view Microseven camera video with Mozilla Firefox?
Step1 Installing Firefox add-ons for IE (Internet Explorer)
- Open Mozilla Firefox browser, use URL https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419, and then you will see the following page.

- Click on “Add to Firefox (Windows)” button, the following installation dialog will be popped up.

- Then, click on “Install Now” button to install IE Tab add-ons.

- When installation is finished, click on “Restart Firefox” button to restart Firefox browser.
Step2 View Microseven camera video with Firefox browser
- Type your camera IP address in URL field and then it will lead you to camera login page.
- Right-click anywhere on the page to bring up pop menu, and select “View Page in IE Tab“.
Firefox icon at the status bar will be changed to IE Icon.

- Then, click on “Login” button to go to camera control panel page.

How to set up MSH-RD080PTW/M7-RD550PTWS pan and tilt values?
Step 1 COM Setting.
- Click Camera Setup ‘Setting’ button on the web system main page, go to ‘COM Settings’ page.

- Set COM parameters for your PTZ camera device.
- COM: 2
- Stop: 1
- Data bits: 8
- Parity: None
- Bits per second: 9600 - Click ‘Apply’ to save the current settings.
- Click ‘Return to the web system main page.
Step 2 PTZ Control Setting.
- Click Surveillance Setup ‘Setting’ button, go to ‘PTZ Control’ page.

- Set PTZ Address, COM Port and Protocol.
- Address: 01
- COM: 2
- Protocol: P_D - Click ‘Apply’ to save the current setting.
- Click ‘Return’, to go back to the web system main page.

1 Open OSD Main Menu.

- Enter ’51′ to the filed which on the top of the slider.
- Click on “Preset” button.
- Click on “Recall” button, then you will find a menu on the OSD.

2 The Definition of Joystick Controller Movement

- In the fixed menu, the definition of Joystick Controller movements are:
Move Up The cursor moves up a menu item. If the cursor moves past the first menu item, it will jump to the last menu item. Move Down The cursor moves down a menu item. If the cursor moves past the last menu item, it will jump to the first menu item. Move Right Enters the next operation of the current fixed menu (If the current fixed menu item has submenu, enters the submenu; if the current fixed menu has the active menu, enters the active menu; if the current fixed menu item is “Exit”, then exits the current menu operation and back to the menu of upper level. Move Left No definition. - In the active menu, the definition of Joystick Controller movement is:
Move Up Selects the previous active menu setup. Move Down Selects the next active menu setup. Move Right Cancels the selected active menu setup, and go back to the setup before the edit of the active menu. Move Left Saves the setup of current selected active menu and back to the edit of active menu.
3 Menu Entry & Exit Methods.
- Menu entry
Use shortcutkey (“51 + PRESET”) can enter the menu for setup. - Direct menu exit
Use shortcutkey (“52 + PRESET”) can exit the menu setup directly. Or by selecting EXIT item in the menu can exit the menu step by step.

How to record video to SD card when motion is triggered?
Step 1 SD card setup.
- Double-click
icon to open M7CMS.

- Enter User ID and Password, our default User ID and Password are ‘admin‘ and ‘password‘.

- Right click on the live camera screen to pull up the short-cut menu and select ‘Properties’, or click the camera name link of Camera List. Camera Setup Properties dialog pops up.
- Go to ‘System > Storage‘ tab, to confirm your SD card on camera is available.
Please make sure there is a SD card information in the tab. - Go to ‘Recording > Record Options‘ tab, recommandation values are:
- Disk full event: Overwrite
- Pre-record status: Off
- Recording file length (10-30): 10 mins
- Minumun hard disk space: 300 MB
- Dual stream: Off
- Then click ‘Apply‘.
Step 2 Camera motion detection setup.
- Go to ‘Detection > Motion Detection‘ tab.

- Click ‘Set motion detect area‘

- Click ‘Select All‘ then click ‘OK‘.

- Go back to ‘Detection > Motion Detection‘ tab.
- Check Recording ‘Channel 1′
- Check ‘Set motion detect on schedule‘
- Only ‘Set duration 1‘ to 12:00:00 AM to 11:59:59 PM
- Click Apply.

- Then click ‘Apply to everyday‘.

- Exit properties configuration page and go back to main window.

Step 3 Record video to SD card when motion is triggered.
- Trigger motion on.

- While motion is detected, video will have red frame alert and the real video will be recorded to SD card.

- The real videos of triggered moment are recorded to SD card.
Step 4 Query and playback recording videos on SD card.

How to view Microseven network camera using Microseven software (M7CMS) on your PC?
Step 1 Double click icon
on your PC desktop and it will pop up a Login window

Step 2 Enter User ID and Password.
Default User ID is: admin
Default password is: password
Note: the previous version Password was: admin.
Then a main window will be displayed in the following:

Step 3 Add camera group.
- Click on ‘Camera Setup…’ button.
- It will pop up window, select radio button on ‘Group Setting’, and then click OK.

- Then it will pop up other window, enter a group name, example ‘Walnut, CA’.

- Click ‘Add’ button, Group ‘Walnut, CA’ is added.

- Click OK to go back to Group Setting and Camera Setting pop window.
Step 4 Add camera(s).
- Select radio button on ‘Camera Setting’, select a group from drop down list, example ‘Walnut, CA’, then click OK.

- It will pop up a Camera List window, in the Group ‘Walnut, CA’, you will add camera(s) in the list.

- Enter the first camera IP address or its domain name.
For example, IP address is 192.168.1.201, then enter ’192.168.1.201′ in IP/Domain field.Port is ’9660′, Channel is ‘CH1′, Stream Type is ‘Primary Stream’, User ID is ‘admin’ and Password is ‘password’. These values are default from Microseven factory setting. You can enter your own values match your camera setting by your own.

- Then click ‘Add’, you will see the camera information is added. Then click OK.

- It will go back to Group Setting and Camera Setting pop window. To click Cancel to finish adding camera(s).

Step 5 View Microseven network camera using Microseven software on your PC now.

Please make sure the following things have been done Before you view camera on Microseven camera software:
- Connect Microseven camera(s) to your LAN network.
- Find your camera and its IP address with Microseven IP Locator.

How to use Microseven software to access to SD card?
Step 1 Double-click
icon, enter your User ID and password, M7CMS main window opens as below.

Step 2 Right click on the live camera screen to pull up camera short-cut menu and select Properties, or click the camera name of Camera List. Camera Setup properties dialog pops up.
Step 3 Go to System > Storage tab.

Please make sure there is a SD card information in the storage list.
Step 4 Go to Recording > Record Options tab, recommanded values are:

- Disk full event: Overwrite
- Pre-record status: Off
- Recording file length (10-30): 10 mins
- Minimum hard disk space: 300 MB
- Dual stream: Off
- Then click ‘Apply’.
Step 5 Go to Recording > Record Schedule tab.

- Check on check box ‘Schedule Rec Enable’
- Only you need to set duration 1 from 12:00:00 to 23:59:59
- And click ‘Apply to everyday’.
Step 6 Go to Recording > Record Query tab.

- Search your recording from date to date, and time from time to time when you want to search.
- And then click ‘Query’, You will find recording file in the list.

- Highlight and double click the file. It will do playback in the following.

Step 7 If you want to save it to your PC, go to browse location where you want to download.

Step 8 Then ‘OK’ and Click ‘Download’ to download this video to your PC.

Step 9 After you download file, you can use Microseven media player to play the video.




How to set up wireless (Wi-Fi 802.11 g) connected to Microseven network camera and wireless router?
Step 1 Double-click the shortcut icon
on your desktop to launch M7CMS.

Step 2 Click camera name or right click on the live camera screen to pull up camera short-cut menu, and select Properties, then go to camera setup properties dialog.
Step 3 Click Camera > Network Settings to go to Network settings page.

Step 4 Setup wireless network properties.
- Set wireless to ‘Enable’
- Set wireless IP address, default is 192.168.1.108, you need to assign your own wireless IP address and must match your Gateway, first three numbers must be identical.
Example, your wireless router gateway is 192.168.1.1, here the first three values are 192.168.1.
Then your wireless IP address may assign to 192.168.1.xxx
Subnet mask, default is 255.255.255.0
Gateway, default is 192.168.1.1, you have to find out your LAN network default gateway. - Set Default Gateway as ‘Wireless LAN’.
- Then click on Apply button, a Network Settings window will pop up saying “Apply settings successfully.”, then click OK.

Step 5 Go to Camera > Wireless Settings tab.
Step 6 Search SSID and Security type
- Click on Search.
- Find your own SSID and click Add.

- Type your Security Key, there are “WEP/WPA/NONE”.

- After you correctly input your Key, then click on Apply button, a Camera Configuration window pops up saying “Apply settings successfully.”, then click OK.

- Then click on Close.
- Wait for 15 to 20 second. After camera reboots, you will see video shown again.

- Go to your Microseven Camera Locator to do search.

- If you find your wireless IP address in the list, you have connected to wireless 802.11 G in the network.
- Now you can unplug your Ethernet cable and use wireless connection.
How to view Microseven network camera on IE browser (M7IE)?
Step 1 Enter your Microseven network camera URL, for example, http://192.168.1.201

Step 2 Control panel home page will be shown in the following:

Step 3 Enter Username, Password, and Port number.
- Default username is: admin
- Default password is: password
- Default port is: 9660
Step 4 Click Login button. Then live video will be shown in the following snapshot.

Please make sure the following things have been done Before you view camera with IE:
- Connect Microseven camera to your LAN network.
- Find your camera and its IP address with Microseven IP Locator.
- Download and installed Microseven Camera ActiveX.
